A survey of Salvation Army History, drawing out lessons for contemporary mission.


At the end of the Salvation Army history course:

  1. The student will be able to identify and analyze the early motivations of the Christian Mission/Salvation Army as shown by quizzes, reflection papers, and class discussion.
  2. The student will be able to recount and explain the activities of early Salvation Army personalities shown through class discussion, quizzes, and reading reports.
  3. The student will analyze the development of the early Salvation Army and see its impact on the modern day movement as shown through class discussion and reading reports.
  4. The student will be able to identify ways in which the modern army can recapture the motivation and vigor of the early movement as shown through the creative project and class discussion.
  5. The student will be able to identify the genesis of early Salvation Army practices and analyze their applicability to the modern movement as shown through video reflection paper.
