Description:

A study of principles of accounting and fiscal stewardship with emphasis on accountability for management of Salvation Army funds, financial reporting and budgeting. Includes an introduction to computerized accounting software.

Outcomes:

  1. The student will be able to identify and apply basic Salvation Army fiscal policies and procedures to the daily business activities of their Corps b responding to a sample Audit.
  2. The student will discuss their expectations of how they will maintain honesty and integrity in the financial side of their ministry through group discussions and essay..
  3. The student will be able to read standard financial reports (balance sheet, income statement, etc.) which will help them recognize the importance of oversight of the resources entrusted to them at the Corps level through practice and assignments.
  4. The student will be able to formulate a simple operating budget demonstrating their understanding of how the fiscal and program operations of a Corps must work together through practice and completion of sample budget.
